Best Natural Sleep Aids

5 Products to help aid sleep naturally

I love sleep. There is no denying it, I love to get cosy, snuggled down and get a solid eight hours.

However, when it comes to consistently good sleep cycles, there are a few tricks up my sleeve to help aid a solid night of zzzz.

  • Z Lab Sleep Mask

During sleep, it is important to limit the amount of bright light entering your eye receptors during the hours of 10pm and 4am. During these winter months it’s easy to stay in the darkness, especially where I live, in the middle of no where. However, when the mornings get lighter, or if you’re travelling, these masks are a game changer.

Night Visor® is a super-soft, plant fibre sleep mask that creates a completely dark environment so that your pineal gland will continue producing the sleep hormone melatonin throughout your sleep.

Without it, sources of light can trigger cortisol a hormone which stimulates wakefulness.

You may be a morning lark or a night owl and this will also affect your circadian rhythm and hours you sleep. You can purchase a mask and find out what chronotype ( early riser or night lover) you are by clicking here

  • Lumi Light

If a face mask isn’t for you, Lumie wake-up lights are like a personal sunrise, a gradually brightening light that gently rouses you from sleep so that you feel naturally wide awake, more energised and ready for the day ahead. At bedtime, a fading sunset creates an environment where sleep comes easily, leaving you rested and refreshed when you next wake. Clinical trials have shown that wake-up lights such as Bodyclock improve the quality of sleep and awakening as well as boosting mood, energy and productivity.

  • Lavender Pillow Spray

The This Works award-winning, natural sleep spray, proven through fMRI brain imaging studies is designed to help you fall asleep faster and wake feeling more refreshed. Spray it on your pillow and bedding before sleep and it creates a sense of relaxation and calm. A Superblend of Lavender, Camomile and Vetivert essential oils, naturally encapsulated in a new vegan friendly format to gradually release a soothing aroma throughout the night, resulting in a longer, less interrupted sleep.

  • Bath salts

Using bath salts in a warm bath before bed time can help relax muscles, slow breathing and reduce aches and pains.

One of my favourite is the Land and Water salts. Orange, grapefruit and mandarin, with relaxing lavender, linden and geranium. The blend of salts works to deeply cleanse, draw out toxins and improve hydration – with the antioxidizing properties of vitamin-rich rosehip and blackcurrant seed oils.
